Having already been out to Venice for Sam and Bens two day wedding celebration last year, it was lovely to be asked to go back for Jade and Ians big day. They were super open about how the day should look at happy to go against the grain to get the photos they wanted in the area. As I know from the last trip- any of the key areas get busy with tourists quite early. So sunrise is the only option for certain areas. So after a quite a few back and forth messages and a call closer to the time we ironed out a schedule to make their perfect day.

St Marks square sunrise first look

First up was a intimate first look by St Marks square in front of the water as the sun rose. Giving all hues of purple and pinks as that light changed. We then made a plan to get some of the main areas captured before it got busy. Which were the bridge of Sighs, St Marks square and one of the gondola piers. This was also the time of Venice film festival so there were more people than normal so it was key to make sure that we did the right structure for the morning and it could not have gone better. As there was also some scaffolding in the square meaning one angle was possible and we just finished as the street sellers were setting up the stores.

Wedding photos on the gondola

Once we had done a few of the key locations and it was getting busier that signalled for us to take a little coffee break and relax. Before that weaving out into the streets for some photos where it was quieter and picking a gondola in one of the quieter canals to get some romantic couple photos! With day progressing and the sun getting hotter it was good to get a reprieve in the shadows of the canals and have private time.

Wedding coffee at Caffe Florian

It was then time to stop off in the famous Cafe Florian which is one of the oldest cafes in Venice and one of the most famous. If you get there at a good time of day, you can get a spot that has this gorgeous backdrop in front of their caffe with their famous sign.

Wedding Ceremony at Scala Contarini Del Bovolo

It was then time to head back to their apartment for a freshen up and also pick up their family to head to the cermeony. We met up with the wedding celebrant at Scala Contarni del Bolovo where they had hired this privately for an hour to have their ceremony adn family photos. Before then heading off on a boat provided by Hotel Palazzo Stern who provided the boat alongside their wedding breakfast.

Wedding reception on the Venice canal

One of the best places to have your wedding reception is over looking the Venice canal. Ian and Jade was so lucky to get this hotel balcony for dinner with it being so busy for Venice film festival and it really was worth the searching to find. If you are considering getting married in Venice, then it really is a lovely plan to get married in the city of love.
