Recommended supplier at Kew Gardens

Rose and Marc held their at the stunning Kew Gardens. As a London wedding Photographer, It was such a pleasure to be placed on the recommended supplier list for Kew Gardens at the start of this year. After doing several weddings there over the years, it was such an amazing experience to be picked from some amazing photographers who have passed through their doors. This was the first of a few Kew weddings this year since making the list so it was brilliant to be back!

St Annes Church Cermeony

Rose and Marc did not want any preparation coverage, so I started the day with guest arrivals at St Annes in Kew Green. Conveniently situated across the road from Kew Gardens so it was a perfect walk over for drinks reception. The church has the perfect layout for photography, with the ability to get down either side of the centre isle which is quite wide so that you are unobtrusive in capturing the ceremony and allowing guests to fully enjoy the experience. There is also an amazing balcony for a top down view. Often churches can be a little darn or very yellow so it was perfect to have amazing light in this space.

Kew Gardens Drinks reception on the banks lawn

The weather was a little windy after we left the church, so we did the group photos in the Nash conservatory of Kew gardens so that everyone was not windswept! The Nash conservatory is normally used for ceremonies, so it is filled with chairs. So it was great actually having this space blank so that we could do the groups here. It also acts as a natural reflector so that everyone is beautifully well lit! For drinks receptions, there was the amazing canapés and illustrations by Claire Jones while guest also played games on the lawn.

Romantic Couple photos around Kew Gardens

During drinks reception I also headed off on the buggy with Rose and Marc to capture their couple photos. Kew Gardens has so so many options. That it is hard to pick just a few. normally if you book your wedding with Kew Gardens you get the buggy for couple photos and they will ask you where you would like to go ahead of schedule. So that you can have the glass house access approved and a route plan for the buggy so that you are not away from your guests too long. Rose and Marc chose to do their couple photos outside on rose gardens, which was perfect for Rose herself! As well as then heading into the Palm House for photos. As this was a later ceremony then the Palm house was then closed to the public- so they get special access and the place fully private! Which is so much more intimate for photos and not trying to work around members of the public while trying to get the perfect photos. What is great in the palm House is that you can get two very different feels- downstairs it is quite dense and darker with often a misty haze for the lenses which is quite romantic. Upstairs often the lenses have acclimatised and it is brighter and more open so you get some really nice contrast in imagery. Once we were done in the Palm House it was time to head back to the drinks reception.

Dinner in the Temperate House of Kew Gardens

Next, it was time to move the guests over from the banks lawn to the Temperate House, as these are two different areas of the gardens this requires a few trips with the explorers which is a great experience for the guests. Once the guests had taken their seats it was time for Rose and Marc’s entrance. And boy… what an entrance it was! They came in full swing and rocked that dance floor! And we headed into a speech from Rose before the first course. Between courses we had more speeches and I also took them up on the staircase for 10 minutes once it had gotten dark to get that beautiful glow that fills the ceiling of the glasshouse. We then had cake cut before Rose changed into her jumpsuit ready for their first dance. The party then really started with so much energy. What a wedding!

Book your Kew Gardens wedding Photographer

Considering Kew Gardens as a space? It really is stunning. Here are my top tips and locations for the perfect Kew wedding: I would recommend having getting ready nearby such as the coach and horses, booking out the Car Park Kew can also provide for guests. With the ceremony in the Nash Conservatory, Drinks reception in the Princess of Wales conservatory. While guests have drinks you do couple photos in the Rose Gardens and Palm House. Dinner and dancing in the Temperate house is also a must to take you into the night. If you also want to do some couple photos in the Temperate house, head over slightly before your guests for 10 mins and then a quick couple once it gets dark. It will not disappoint! As a Kew Gardens recommended supplier and a Kew Gardens wedding photographer…. I would say this is my favourite combination of locations.
