Questions often asked: Have you photographed at our venue before?

Before couples book we often have a call to connect, see if we are a good fit and it is an opportunity for couples to ask any questions they might have. It is a great time to share ideas of the wedding day and plans that you are considering. Often one of the questions I get asked is: Have you photographed at our venue before? Which is quite a common question. Here I will go over why is it is not a big deal if you have not been there before.

My approach for working at new venues

One of the reasons why wedding photography suits me so well is the thrill of the unknown and the variety. While I do love going back to a few staple venues that you will often seen in my portfolio- it is because I CHOOSE to go back. But more often than not, I am working with couples at new venues. Which keeps up that level of excitement for me. Photography is a creative process, and while there are always some of the staple photos that you want to get at every wedding- the idea of working a new space and giving couples something fresh, unique and truly just there is why I do the job. It means I am not pulling out the same cookie cutter photos week in and week out but something that is tailored to the two of you.

For any new venue, I research everything online first. From checking out the venues website, previously photographed weddings, websites to check sun positions and arial views all ahead of time. Unlike when I first started in wedding photography, everything I need is already online. I then often get there ahead of time to scope out the venue- this is better than going any other time. It is fresh and on the day. Meaning I know exactly what flowers are in bloom, what the weather is doing and any areas of the building out of bounds for any reason.

If you also want to create something truly unique at your chosen venue- I am your girl! As well as recreating photos that might have sealed the deal in picking your forever wedding venue.
