Wedding photography in oxfordshire

I am a Oxfordshire wedding photographer covering Oxford and the surrounding counties. I create photography that blends editorial with documentary- meaning the photographs are natural, timeless but stylish. Having been named as ELLE Top 12 UK Wedding Photographers I am uniquely placed to make sure the day is about you, your loved ones and documenting the day as you see it.

Having travelled the world for my couples, I still find my home counties the most stunning to be in. Having grown up in the Devonshire countryside, moving to london and then settling in Oxfordshire. I have the vest of all of the worlds!

I know how the light moves differently with the stunning Oxfordshire tree line and where the sun will set best compared to the City. I am ready to run through wheat fields with you as well as take photos of you sat at a stylish bar in a manor house.

Whatever your ideas, I am here to capture them to their fullest. Sit down for a cal land plan your photography timeline and hear about your ideas. I know exactly the type of shots that best suit the landscape and merge them with your ideas as a couple. I work directly with you to talk over the best logistics, poses and candid moments of the day as an Oxfordshire wedding photographer.

How I work to capture your wedding day

Do you want photographs that capture all of the little moments as well as the big bits?

While my style is creative, this does not mean posed heavily. It means I am there to capture all of the little moments. Laughter, tears, children playing and all the moments you miss as the day unfolds. After having talked about your timeline. I know the exact moments to be in certain places. But you also ‘work a room’ meaning I move about and blend seamlessly into the crowd. Thats why I do so many steps at a wedding!

My favourite Oxfordshire Venues

Are you finding it hard to choose your wedding venue? This area is perfect for a rural outdoor wedding as well as a chic stately Oxfordshire house wedding… Having photographed at a number of these, here are some of my favourites: venues such as Caswell House, Bodleian Library, Eynsham Hall, The Perch, Ardington House, Rousham House, Kingston Bagpuize House, The Old Swan, Soho farmhouse, Blenheim Palace, Silchester House, Tythe Barn, Aynhoe Park, Millbridge Court, Crazy bear, Cripps Stone Barn. Take a little look to narrow down your first choices. Then pick your top 3 to book a site visit.

Prompts not posing

Many of my couples tell me they are uncomfortable in front of the camera. And that they do not know how to pose. Or other platforms tell you posing is bad and that they wont do it. BUT the reality of a wedding day is if we come to the couples poses and there is not even a small amount of guidance then you will feel so awkward! So a small amount of ‘posing’ is helpful. It means I give you prompts and actions to do. such as walking to a certain spot, or tweaking a hand position. So that you feel comfortable in the best way possible. No awkward poses, but gentle prompts.

Oxfordshire Wedding Photography Questions?

Often get asked questions quite specific to Oxford city Centre weddings or in the Oxfordshire Countryside. Here are a few common ones I can answer.

You are not allowed to have confetti in or around the inside spaces or grounds of the Bodleian library or campus. BUT you can have this under the bridge of Sighs which makes for a stunning photograph. As your photographer I will take you and your guests over to that area. Organise the structure and get you that famous photograph.

So it all depends what you want out of your day. Some couples would like a lot of different locations. From preparations, Ceremony and then reception. So they can show their guests what the city has to offer and its stunning architecture. So there can be a few moving parts. So allowing enough time between then locations is key.

Or you can pick a venue that has everything on site such as the Randolph hotel. This means that prep, ceremony and reception is all on site and easy for everyone involved.

If you are looking at having a Manor House wedding in Oxfordshire then there are some amazing finds. Often having the options for indoor or outdoor ceremonies. With stunning grounds. Some of my favourites I would recommend are Cornwell manor on the Oxfordshire/Coutswolds border. Ardington House which sites just outside of Wantage in a picturesque village of Ardington. Stoner Park which sits within the popular town of Henley-on-Thames which even has its own chapel. And last but not least Kingston Bagpuize House with a 300 person capacity.

Some couples worry about the weather forecast in the countryside compared to the city. But it is no more risky having an outdoor ceremony in Oxfordshire than it is in Devon or just outside of central london. Your best plan is to pick a venue with a perfect indoor and outdoor option. Working with your venue on your first choice for an outdoor ceremony. As well as then having an indoor ceremony plan that you still love.

I am super passionate about not having a wedding day with a ‘one size fits all’ approach but making sure that your wedding day is unique to you. So ask those harder questions of the venue. And get creative- as picking an outdoor spot in their venue that they have not done before also opens up a whole new avenue for them too. Its a win win.
