Everything you need to know about getting married in Marrakech

Marrakech is a stunning destination to choose to get married in. With is vibrant colour and rich in culture it is no wonder it is on many peoples wish list for countries they consider to get married in. I have photographed here and it is one o the most epic cities and I adore getting to visit.

With many options for ceremonies in one of their boutique riads, or even a desert camp… the choices can be endless. A lot of couples also opt for a pre or post photography session in the famous Souk of Marrakech which is always stunning.

Why get married in Marrakesh?

There are so so many reasons to marry in this stunning city. But one of the key attractions for people are the weather and the colour. One of the most vibrant cities with stunning archways, colourful walls, doors and hotels around every corner. With the weather here, it can get pretty hot! With couples opting for a later ceremony to make use of the cooler temperatures and sunsets. Between March and June can be some of the best times to visit.

Should you hire a wedding planner in Marrakech?

I personally, would say yes. I think any wedding is a good idea to have a wedding planner as they really do keep the day running smoothly and are fully on your side. However with the logistics of Marrakech and knowing local suppliers for catering, décor etc they will be invaluable.

Why should you hire a destination photographer for your Marrakesh wedding?

Put simply… light, experience and dedication! As a destination wedding photographer in Marrakech I know the light, the colour palette and what looks good. As I travel for a living it allows me to be fully immersed in your wedding experience. As well as being used to working in different environments and locations it means my eye for detail and a good shot is varied. Rather than someone who works in the same venues often and puts out the same content for a easy life. I am all about the vibes! Making sure your vision is a true reflection of who you both are.

Having been to Marrakesh before, I know some of the loveliest places if you are wanting to do a pre or post wedding session in the Souk as well as working in some of the loveliest venues. I can also help with working with your wedding planner to help co-ordinate the best spots for photos and times of day.

What is the best time of day for a ceremony?

This will greatly depend on the time of year you are getting married. I would advise later in the day to avoid peak temperatures like many wedding planners in Morocco would advise. However, make sure this is not too close to sunset time. As if you are wishing to do any couple and group photos after the ceremony then you need to leave enough daylight time for this. An alternative can be doing family photos before the ceremony and even some coup;le photographs. However make sure you leave time for that gorgeous golden hour and sunset for just the two of you.

Shall I have more than just a wedding day?

Yes! Often couples are so overwhelmed by the choices of amazing venues in Marrakech that they choose to build in multi-day events. Such as staying in a riad and having a welcome dinner and couple photoshoot around the Souk. Then the main wedding day and even a farewell event in the Agafay Desert. It allows you to show your guests the rich options and sights to see of Morocco. Riads are mainly in the main centre of Marrakech and are stunning little houses turned into hotels. The central interior of these riads often have an internal courtyard or pool which is stunning, open with an open sky area in the middle.
