It was amazing to head back to the Dolomites after visiting last year for Debbie and Kevins wedding day on Lago di Braies. So fast forward to a year later I was back on the lake with Brittany and Keith for part 1 of their wedding plans. They were looking at doing their ceremony on the lake followed by an adventure on the mountains. Before later in the year having part 2 back in Texas.

Saying ‘I do’ on Lago di Braies

Lago di Braies has such stunning views and it is great that you can marrying, doing photoshoots and hire the boats privately at sunrise before opening times. As with any time of year in the dolomites, the weather can be unpredictable- so days before the wedding there was rain and low cloud coverage. With some also forecast on the wedding day- so we were planning on going with the flow and making plans as we went. But we were so lucky in the end with a dry day. We did have quite low cloud coverage- so some parts of the top of the mountains were not always visible. But still so stunning.

These guys had their personal vows and a serman on the dock before we then did some photos on the lake.

Couple photos on the lake

The hire time is an hour and a half which does sound a lot but it actually flies by. Once you get set up, Brittany put on her dress and then the ceremony it left us with around 30 mins for dock and lake photos. It was heavy rain overnight so the team were also on the boats emptying the water so we were also working around them. So it meant capturing enough variety of angles and set ups in quick time.

Lago Di Braies wedding

Before we headed off to our next location we did a few quick photos around the edge of the lake before the crowds appeared. What is always funny is that the lake is so so popular that there is normally a line forming at the entrance so that as soon as its opening time people are let in and make a rush to the boats. But when you hire you are done then and can go an enjoy the rest of the lake before other people arrive as the morning picks up.

Wedding photography at Cinque Torri

When I was speaking with Brittany and Keith on our call and over our emails they wanted to get some lovely mountains in the background but not have too much of a hike. As well as looking at doing the lake and mountains in one day we needed to have somewhere that was not a first come first serve on ticket entry and also that was not too exhausting on the legs. So Cinque Torri was a perfect option. With the ski lift taking you to each segment and the first section the most picturesque it was a great option for the afternoon. It meant amazing photos of the landscape as well as some cool photos on the ski lift!
